How to get to the loft
Checked . Intent: Open the hatch and survive the attic.
I stood under the stairs looking for a keyhole. The prompt is overhead, and it stays dark until the umbrella handle is in the inventory. The fireplace brick wall is a later door, not this one.
Steps
Floor names follow the English guide: ground, first, second. There is no level simply titled “Loft” in a chapter list.
- Go to the master bedroom on the upper floor and pick up the Old Umbrella Handle.
- Return to the first-floor stair landing. Select the umbrella and pull the hatch. A ladder drops.
- Climb. The game autosaves. Take Unpacking Bags from the desk ringed by candles and a mirror.
- Jennifer comes from the right. Turn back and take the left fork to avoid the grab.
- Later, use the oil can on the second-floor fireplace bricks. That passage is not the loft.

Master bedroom, on the floor of the open closet to the right of the bathroom.
Where is the hatch?
Above the first-floor landing, where the cutscene ends after you climb from the ground floor. English guides also call this space the attic.
What if I skip the desk?
Collectible 17, Unpacking Bags, is required before the fireplace passage. The loft autosaves when you enter.
